Cooker Whistle Counter is a utility application designed to help users count pressure cooker whistles by detecting whistle sounds through the device's microphone. The App processes audio locally on your device to identify whistle sounds and notify you when your target count is reached.
Important: We do NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or audio data. All audio processing happens locally on your device.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information We DO Collect
The App collects and stores the following information locally on your device only:
- App Settings: Your preferences for whistle detection sensitivity, duration, interval, and threshold settings.
- Count Data: The number of whistles detected during your cooking sessions (stored temporarily and not transmitted).
This information is stored using Android's AsyncStorage and remains on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties.
2.2 Information We DO NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Audio recordings or audio data
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Location data
- Device identifiers (except as required by AdMob for ad serving)
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Any other personally identifiable information
3. How We Use Audio (Microphone Permission)
The App requires microphone access to detect pressure cooker whistles. Here's how audio is processed:
- Real-Time Processing: Audio is analyzed in real-time on your device to detect whistle sounds based on frequency and amplitude patterns.
- No Recording: Audio is NOT recorded, saved, or stored in any form.
- No Transmission: Audio data is NEVER transmitted over the internet or shared with any third parties.
- Immediate Disposal: Audio data is processed and immediately discarded after analysis.
- Local Processing: All audio analysis happens entirely on your device using local algorithms.
4. Permissions
The App requires the following Android permissions:
- RECORD_AUDIO: Required to listen for and detect cooker whistles. Audio is processed locally and never recorded or stored.
- INTERNET: Required solely for displaying advertisements through Google AdMob.
- VIBRATE: Used to provide haptic feedback for notifications when the target whistle count is reached.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used to store app settings and notification sounds locally on your device.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Google AdMob
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob is configured to show non-personalized ads only, meaning ads are not based on your personal information or browsing history.
AdMob may collect certain information for ad serving purposes, including:
- Device information (model, operating system version)
- Ad interaction data (views, clicks)
- Approximate location (based on IP address)

5.2 No Other Third-Party Services
Apart from Google AdMob, the App does not integrate with any other third-party services, analytics platforms, or data collection tools.
6. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: All app settings are stored locally on your device using Android's secure storage mechanisms.
- No Cloud Storage: We do not use any cloud storage or remote servers to store your data.
- No Account Required: The App does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information.
- Device Security: Your data security depends on your device's security measures (lock screen, encryption, etc.).
7. Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any user data with third parties. The only data sharing that occurs is:
- Limited device information shared with Google AdMob for non-personalized ad serving (as described in Section 5.1)
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us, and we will take appropriate action.
9. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view your app settings at any time within the App.
- Deletion: You can delete all app data by uninstalling the App or clearing the App's data through your device settings.
- Modification: You can modify your settings at any time within the App.
- Opt-Out of Ads: While we display ads, you can use airplane mode to prevent ad loading (note: this doesn't affect core functionality).
10. Data Retention
- App settings are retained on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data.
- Whistle count data is temporary and reset when you start a new counting session.
- No data is retained on any servers because we don't transmit or store data externally.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- Significant changes will be communicated through the App (if feasible)
- Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
